A couple months ago I really got into the show "The Walking Dead" and after watching the few episodes that were available on Netflix, I had a newly developed obsession for zombies. I went in search of a game, online, that I could play that was more of a strategy type game instead of all of those first person shooter zombie games out there and after asking around I was told about this incredible game called Zombie Pandemic. Ever since then I have played this game just about everyday and I have a total BLAST! So I decided to contact the makers of this game, Pixel Pandemic, to learn more about this game and others that are in the pipelines.
More Information on Zombie Pandemic
Zombie Pandemic's game server 1.00 launched in January 2011 and since then it has become a wildly popular online game. Free to play with paid subscription options, this game has tons of zombie characters, weapon choices and missions to complete while traveling through a quarantined city roaming with the walking dead. You will meet a variety of interesting people and take down almost 200 different kinds of zombies from all walks of life. With chaos around every corner, you must fight to survive by scavenging and looting for food, ammo and armor, join clans to build safe-houses and fight off zombies.
Instead of the typical first person shooter game you find when it comes to zombie games, this game is all about strategy. It's up to you to make important decisions to complete missions that become more challenging as you level up and earn money to stock up on better weapons, ammo and armor to protect yourself from the walking dead.
According to their press information "Zombie Pandemic is a free text based PBBG (persistent browser based game) multiplayer roleplaying (MMORPG) zombie game. The game features survival horror RPG elements including advanced combat, a skill tree, and use of realistic navigation in a real world map. The game world consists of hundreds of locations offering even more game events and missions in a rich storyline. This game is free to play for everyone 18 years or older."
As I mentioned I have been playing this game for a couple months now and to be honest, I usually get pretty bored with online games but not Zombie Pandemic! One of the most impressive things about this game is the fact that they were able to develop an extremely fun zombie game without making it into a first person shooter. Strategy is key with this game and you quickly become enthralled with the story line and what you will find around the corner.
You have the opportunity to fight close to 200 different zombies and other enemies including psycho shopkeepers and raiders. You also have the chance to purchase or loot hundreds of different weapons including long-range and melee weapons as well as armor to protect you from attacks. To make it even more realistic, the realistic navio9igation in a real world map and the fact that you actually have to keep your character energized, well fed and heal their wounds makes this game well worth purchasing a subscription. While this game is free to play you have the ability to purchase anywhere from a 30 day subscription for only $5.99 or a one year subscription for only $29.99. You can also purchase credits to be used to purchase special items you can't find in the game or purchase with your in-game profits. Credits start at only $4.99 for 50 and go all the way up to 2,000 credits for $89.95. There are also ways to earn free credits right on their site.
I had the opportunity to review a free premium membership and a bunch of free credits. With a premium membership my stamina points (how long I am able to play) went up from 450 to 1440 and I am able to create 4 different characters from now on, instead of one. My main character, Ava Rose, is already at level 54 and I am only almost half way done. This is still in the beta phase so I'm sure by the time I get closer to the end there will be even more missions and fun activities for me to participate in.
One thing that impressed me from the start about Pixel Pandemic is how well they listen to their customers. The forum for Zombie Pandemic is full of great game ideas pitched from the players themselves and the people at Pixel Pandemic don't just ignore those ideas but put them to use in the game to make it even better and more enjoyable for everyone.
I have not had this much fun with an online game in a very long time and I am very excited about their upcoming games including a similar game that includes mutants instead of zombies as well as one with aliens and one with robots! I see nothing but great things in the future for Pixel Pandemic and can't wait to see what they have to offer in the near future!
I highly recommend this game to anyone over 18 looking for a fun way to relax after work or anyone that loves MMORPG games. Take our your frustrations on some zombies and strive to survive in this zombie infested city!
Shopaholic Rating: 6 out of 5 Shopping Bags - More enjoyable than all zombie games I've played, even ones I have purchased in the past. Zombie Pandemic is a total blast and a great way to relax.
