Prenatal Pilates DVD Review and Giveaway!

Prenatal Pilates with Dale Shea

When you're pregnant your OB/GYN and everything you read or hear recommends exercise not only to prepare you for labor but because it's great for you and for the baby!  When I was pregnant with Ashton, the last thing I wanted to do was exercise, I was miserable!  But looking back I wish I would have, it definately would've helped me out and probably would've helped relieve some of the symptoms I was experiencing, but try telling me that at the time! I do, however, wish I would've known about Prenatal Pilates because I did a lot of stretching and I think I would've loved this!  Recently I met a wonderful woman, Dale, who just came out with a Prenatal Pilates DVD and she asked me to review it for her!  I figured why not?  You don't have to be pregnant to enjoy Pilates! Prenatal or not!  And besides, at the rate my tummy sticks out everyone asks me if I'm pregnant anyways so I can pretend for one afternoon! haha!

A little more information about Dale and Prenatal Pilates
According to her website and information given to me from Dale, "Dale Shea has been a Certified Pilates Instructor since 2001 through the Phsyical Mind Institute.  She also holds a bachelors degree in Exercise Science from 'The George Washington University' as well as 2 years experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant.  For the past 10 years she has utilized her education and dance background to build her own Pilates studio!"
"Dale took her first Pilates class in 1998 at a dance festival in college where she studied dance.  She instantly fell in love and just 3 short years later Dale was a fully certified Pilates instructor opening her own studio.  She believes that Pilates are essential to truly be strong in body and mind."
"She has taken workshops and classes with the nations most renowned instructors.  A believer in continuing education, Dale recently attended the March 2011 ECA Conference in NY.  Her pregnancy inspired her to choreograph and produce her own DVD.  She felt there was a need for a DVD that allowed you to stay fit while pregnant.  Over the years, Dale worked with many pregnant students and she's attended many specific pregnancy Pilates workshops."

Dale Pilates w/weights
My Review
Josh had a blast watching me try these Pilates exercises because I have to admit, it's been a while since I've done anything like this!  I've done some walking but that's about the extent of my exercising because walking alone has helped me lose weight, so I haven't thought of trying anything else!  I had so much fun with this DVD!  It's a little quick to follow a long to but you'll get the hang of it in no time and of course you don't have to be pregnant to join in on the fun! There are 4 great workouts on the DVD - one just on the mat, one with light weights, one with a resistance band and one with a stability ball so she really has something for everyone. The next day, I was pretty surprised how sore my legs were from stretching!  As my Mom used to say when I was growing up, "I used muscles I didn't even know I had!" Now that I've been using it for a few days my muscles are loosening up and I'm waking up sore less often.  I still have just as much fun everytime I pop the DVD and I love it because I don't have to look like a fool in front of anyone I don't want to.  I can invite a few friends over and have a Pilate Party or just exercise by myself if I want.  Dale really knows what she's talking about and she has such an incredible energy about her!! I know I don't think I could move that smoothly when I was that pregnant!  Moms go out and buy all kinds of little trinkets for their babies before their born all the time!  Little shirts and cups, bottles and cute accessories but what about doing something for your baby that will benefit him or her now?  Exercise is a great way to benefit the little bundle of joy growing inside you!
Shopaholic Rating: 4 out of 5 Shopping Bags!  This was a really great workout and I love how Shea flows through them so easily!  She's incredible!
