Spring Break Here We Come! *1st Editorial!*

I just realized that Ashton has Spring Break in 2 weeks!  I feel like we just got off of Winter Vacation and already it's Spring Break!  So I've been searching the net for fun things to do while he's at home.  My Parents are planning on taking him to Disney World for a few days, (don't worry pictures will follow!), so I've got a few days of vacation covered, I've just gotta figure out what to do with the rest of the time.  Of course if it was up to him he'd be playing the Nintendo Wii or on the Computer the whole time, but, well let's just say, that's not going to happen.  What do you have planned for your little ones?  If you're as clueless as I am here are a few great ideas I found to make this Spring Break a fun time for everyone involved!

Scavenger Hunt/Picnic Day- Take some construction paper and write up a list of things for your children to find at the park or in your backyard such as leaves, sticks, etc.. after all items are collected award them with a Scavenger Hunt Picnic!

Craft Day- There are tons of great craft ideas online and in craft books and magazines for children of all ages to enjoy and craft supplies are affordable and can be found at local craft stores or mass merchandise stores as well.

Head to the beach- If you live in a warmer climate like me, take your kids to the beach and let them splash around in the water while you soak up some sun!  Just remember the sunblock!  You don't want sun damage to your skin! Eek!

Put on a play or puppet show- A cardboard box and some old fabric and glue can turn into a wonderful puppet show for all to enjoy or you can dress up and put on a play!

Visit a local attraction like the zoo or aquarium- This is something you can make into an all day event.  It's also something that is exciting enough to tire out the younger ones.  So you relax at the end of the day!

Rotate with other Parent's children- Hold a " Movie Party" on the day you are watching the children with popcorn and a movie and later trade off with another parent.

Flea Market or Yard Sales- For those children with allowances, it's so much fun to take them to the Flea Market or to a yard sale!  You always find the neatest things at the best prices!

Library Day-Head to the library and pick out some stories you both would enjoy!

These are just some of many ideas you can use to keep your children occupied during these long 2 weeks of Spring Break.  If all else fails..tell them you need help with Spring Cleaning.  That will get them outta your hair!

This is my first attempt at an editorial.  These are my own opinions.  These pictures are not mine, if they are yours please let me know so I can give you credit.  ©Shopaholic Mommy 2011

  2. I love Lowry Zoo..Ashton loved it! Its been a while since we've been there though. They have such a great variety of animals and so many things to see and do it's really a good time for parents and kids alike. While you're in Tampa, if you're looking for something else fun to do, check out the Museum of Science and Industry. They have an Imax and all kinds of awesome exhibits as well as an AMAZING children's museum we have in town. It's all hands on. If you want more info let me know and i'll get it for you. Super Super Idea!
